Disabled veterans, school children to harvest apples at URI orchard for food pantries, Sept. 16 & 18

WHO: Disabled veterans from the Veterans Resource and Recovery Center, Providence, and children from the Compass School, Kingston, along with URI students and Master Gardeners.


WHAT: The volunteers will harvest apples from the URI orchards for distribution to food pantries in Rhode Island.


WHEN: Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. (veterans) and Thursday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m. (school children).


WHERE: The orchards at the rear of URI’s East Farm on Route 108 in Kingston, half mile south of Route 138.
