KINGSTON, R.I. — October 11, 2005 — Landscape Architect Scheri Fultineer will discuss “Integral Strands: Interweaving Social and Environmental Sustainability in Contemplative Communities,” on Oct. 20 as a part of the University of Rhode Island Community Planning and Landscape Architecture Lecture Series. The focus of Fultineer’s work and research is the way in which landscaping is influenced by spiritual and religious beliefs.

Fultineer is a design critic in landscape architecture in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University. She received her graduate degrees from Harvard University in landscape architecture and comparative theology.

Her work and research concerns the ways in which the landscape is shaped by religious beliefs. She is a principal of Reisen Design Associates, a consulting and design practice, and is currently working on projects that range in scale from contemplative campus and retreat centers to private residences.

The URI Community Planning and Landscape Architecture series is co-sponsored by the College of the Environment and Life Sciences. The lecture is free and open to the public and begins at 7p.m in Weaver Auditorium in the Coastal Institute building on the Kingston campus.
