Baker-Dooley to join Congressman Cicilline in moderating spelling bee, Feb. 1

Charity event set for Feb. 1 in Providence


WHO: Congressman David Cicilline, Lynn Baker-Dooley, and celebrity spellers from 15 different teams, representing churches, colleges and other organizations from around the state.


WHAT: South Providence Neighborhood Ministries Adult Spelling Bee to benefit the ministries’ Food Pantry, which is open every weekday and Louie’s Place After School and Summer Program, which provides mentors, homework help, nutrition programs, physical fitness activities, and leadership training for students ages 6 to 16 in a safe and welcoming atmosphere at 747 Broad St., Providence. Three-person teams from across the state will compete for fun trophies and raise funds to support the programs. Cicilline is a regular participant, but this is Baker- Dooley’s first appearance. The $5 admission fee covers food and fun.


WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, 1:30 to 4 pm.


WHERE: 747 Broad St., Providence.
