KINGSTON, R.I. –June 16, 2010—The University of Rhode Island runs in the Durfee family bloodline. William “Will” Durfee of West Greenwich, vice president of operations at Hexagon Metrology, received his second degree—an MBA– from URI last month. He earned his first degree in industrial engineering in 1988. His daughter, Heather Durfee, also received a degree last month- her bachelor of biological sciences, summa cum laude. His other daughter, Alexis, just completed her freshman year in nursing. Will’s father, Wayne Durfee of Saunderstown, a URI professor emeritus of fisheries, animal and veterinary science, celebrated his 60th class reunion this year. Will’s mother, Bernice graduated in 1949 with a degree in botany. Will’s sister, Bonita Durfee of Foster, earned a nutrition degree in 1984 and teaches science at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School.
