Acclaimed illustrator, author David Macaulay to speak at URI’s Coastal Institute, Oct. 27

WHO: Illustrator and author David Macaulay, a graduate, former professor and trustee emeritus of the Rhode Island School of Design. His update to the worldwide bestseller The Way Things Work—titled The Way Things Work Now—is out this month, and features new material including touchscreens, flat screens, hybrid cars and 3D printers.

WHAT: Macaulay will talk about the use of research, illustration and humor to explain the intricacies of science, technology and architecture. A reception and book signing will follow his talk. Copies of The Way Things Work Now will be available for purchase.

WHERE: The Corless Auditorium in the Watkins Building, 215 South Ferry Road, at URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography in Narragansett. The talk is sponsored by URI’s Coastal Institute.
