The honorees are both established and up-and-coming leaders in the state. They represent many different fields, including law, medicine, and business. While URI alums have always been part of the “40 Under Forty” award ceremony, this is the first time 11 alums have been honored in a competition that attracts more applications every year, with more than 140 considered this year.
Nearly 400 people attended the event, which is hosted by the Providence Business News, and billed as the best business party of the summer. It was held Thursday, July 28 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport. The following 2011 award recipients are URI alumni:
